Intro
ShortTalks is a program running on Windows, using which you can exchange text messages (chat) with other persons through your mobile phone connected to the computer or through Internet. Transition of text messages is doing by means of SMS (Short Message Systems) or email service. Of course, your partners must have a mobile phone and/or an email account.
ShortTalks organizes your conversations into conferences. Conference is a talk about some subject. Conference consists of conferees (as many as you wish), a log of sending and receiving messages, settings for SMS messages and some settings for visual preferences (font, color, etc.). ShortTalks saves a conference to a separate file and presents it to you in a separate conference window. You may have several (no limit) simultaneous conference.
As you probably know, one plain SMS has no more than 160 Latin characters. In Shorttalks you may send and receive text message up to 17082 characters long in any language, which your computer is permitting to type. This is possible thanks to the fact that ShortTalks supports Unicode and is able to link SMS messages.
ShortTalks is combining the powers of desktop PC and mobile communication. Frequently this combination gives you the quickest way to reach other persons.

For SMS functionality
- GSM mobile phone with internal modem, which supports some AT commands defined in the ETSI GSM 07.05 and 07.07 standards
- Computer-phone connection logically through a com port; physically by Bluetooth, cable or IR device
- Subscription to a wireless carrier service, which allows sending SMS messages
For Email functionality
- Email functions are available only under Windows 2000/XP. For Windows 2000, MDAC version 2.6 or higher must be installed
